Public health students, Rebecca Dabbs and Kelsey Lowery, summer volunteers from the master’s program in Preventive Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC took on an important task recently. They participated in an effort to notify the vulnerable south Los Angeles community to sound the alarm about a growing COVID 19 risk. LA County public health officials had just released data identifying the south LA area as one of the highest county locations where community exposure is rampant along with high positivity rates. In time for distribution just before the July 4th holiday weekend, Rebecca and Kelsey prepared and sent out the flyer via email, social media, and website posting for maximum public exposure. They both worked very hard to make this happen and were happy to be part of an effort to save lives.
